I Love LA - Who Knew?

I grew up in Northern California and spent much of my time in San Francisco where LA was considered a joke. When I came here I came for my job not expecting to enjoy myself much but looking for something different. Today's when I really appreciated LA. I was sick (really, really sick) and from last night until mid day today I was miserable.

I called an Advice Nurse from my insurance this morning when the pain was intense beyond belief and she said that I should not drink anything and should get myself to the emergency room within the hour as I would probably have to have a MRI or something like that so I should go to a place like a hospital that would have that kind of equipment. Just as I was getting ready to go to Cedars-Sinai a wave of 'feeling better' came over me. I waited it out and voila I felt a LOT better. Not perfect, but better. (I'm getting to the lovin' LA part soon). I napped and read and napped some more to see if the intense (I mean INTENSE pain came back--it didn't) ...then I was hungry and I had no food in my house.

This is why I am lovin' LA: You can have anything delivered within 1/2 hour! For the first time I pulled out the delivery menus I had stashed away and my Yummy.com catalogue and found FOOD. Although I could have had Thai, Chinese, Italian, etc delivered I decided I just wanted some gourmet cheeses, an artisan bread, blueberries and some Mexican fruit frozen bars so I called Yummy and ordered great stuff at reasonable prices and within 20 minutes everything arrived at my front door. I LOVE THIS PLACE! BTW Yummy's is open 24 hours for delivery 364 days a year (they close Christmas day).

So...this is not all that I am loving about LA. As my son mentioned last weekend, there are so many great things to do here and so many invitations to fantastic events that one becomes very, very selective about what one decides to do. And--the weather aint' bad either. (I'll admit it is fun seeing the movie stars too).

BTW after all that my tummy started bothering me again tonight so I may end up at Cedars after all...hopefully not...
